El 15 de mayo fusilaron a mi bisabuelo, Joaquín Roca Navarro, y a mi tío bisabuelo, José Ferrero Sanjuán, en Xàtiva. Ambos fueron víctimas directas de la dictadura franquista española. Los demás familiares que hemos convivido con ese suceso somos víctimas indirectas, pues aún no hemos encontrado sus cuerpos ni hemos podido despedirnos de ellos. No hemos podido cerrar la herida.

Acción realizada en la zona del fusilamiento, en la franja horaria que duró todo el proceso. Del resultado de ella salieron dos piezas:

DATOS SOBRE EL PROCESO DE CREACIÓN DE LAS PIEZAS:
El proyecto bebe de dos proyectos fotodocumentales: el proceso de búsqueda de las fosas de las personas que fueron fusiladas durante el franquismo en Xàtiva y de la festividad de la Noche de Todos los Santos en La Torre d’en Lloris.

En la noche de Todos los Santos de esta localidad es tradición salir a cantar a las casas, para que las almas que puedan estar en ellas suban al cielo y se liberen de este mundo terrenal y su sufrimiento. Desde que cae el sol y durante toda la noche iluminan con velas y con “Lamparillas luminosas” las puertas o las ventanas. A estas “Lamparillas luminosas” en La Torre de’n Lloris las llaman “animetes”, que quiere decir almas.

TRIBUTE TO THOSE EXECUTED. May 15, 2024 85 years later

On May 15, my great-grandfather, Joaquín Roca Navarro, and my great-great-uncle, José Ferrero Sanjuán, were executed in Xàtiva. Both were direct victims of the Spanish Franco dictatorship. The rest of the family members who lived through this event are indirect victims, as we have not yet found their bodies or been able to say goodbye. We have not been able to heal the wound.

DATA ABOUT THE CREATION PROCESS OF THE PIECES:
The project draws on two photodocumentary projects: the search for the graves of the people who were executed during the Franco regime in Xàtiva and the All Saints’ Night festivity in La Torre d’en Lloris.

On All Saints’ Eve in this town, it’s a tradition to go out to sing from house to house, so that any souls who may be there may ascend to heaven and be freed from this earthly world and its suffering. From sunset and throughout the night, they light their doors or windows with candles and “luminous lamps.” These “luminous lamps” in La Torre de’n Lloris are called “animetes,” which means souls.

/ARQUEANTRO is responsible for the excavations. The Association of Families of Victims of Franco’s Death in the Xàtiva Cemetery is responsible for organizing the search for the graves.
