En el pasado el objeto de protección que se utilizaba en València era un lazo rojo enganchado con un imperdible en la ropa interior. Muchas veces, al mismo tiempo que se ponía este amuleto se recitaba una oración para quitar el mal de ojo y estar protegido. En estas palabras está muy presente la figura de la madre, la que protege, ampara y cuida. En la actualidad es en ella donde podemos encontrar este lazo rojo puesto en el pecho, cerca del corazón.

Para hacer el objeto de protección del siglo XXI quise rescatar este objeto y añadirle un elemento que estuviese vinculado en la contemporaneidad. Hice un imperdible de plata al que le puse un lazo rojo y una medalla, en la que no encontramos a la Virgen que nos cuida y protege sino las siglas MH, en honor a las palabras memoria histórica, que espero hoy nos acompañen, acunen y envuelvan.

En València decimos que quién pierde los orígenes, pierde la identidad, directamente vinculada con la dignidad. Orígenes, raíces o memoria histórica que nos recuerdan quien somos. En estas tierras creemos que si somos conscientes de ella será más difícil que nos perdamos o que nos hagan daño. De este modo, puede que tengamos más presente quienes somos y de dónde venimos. Tal vez así estemos más protegidos, amparados y cuidados de la cambiante, atroz y vertiginosa contemporaneidad a la que constantemente estamos expuestos.

To make the object of protection of the 21st century, I wanted to rescue this object and add an element that was linked in contemporaneity. I made a silver safety pin to which I put a red ribbon and a medal, in which we do not find the Virgin who cares for and protects us but the initials MH, in honor of the words historical memory, which I hope will accompany us today, cradle and wrap.

In Valencia we say that whoever loses their origins loses their identity, directly linked to dignity. Origins, roots or historical memory that remind us of who we are. In these lands we believe that if we are aware of it, it will be more difficult for us to get lost or be hurt. In this way, we may be more aware of who we are and where we come from. Perhaps in this way we are more protected, protected and cared for from the changing, atrocious and dizzying contemporaneity to which we are constantly exposed.
